RETRO WSC Coupe Rules©

​RETRO WSC Coupe and Stock Car are Motor Option classes.

Option 1

UNSEALED PRO SLOT ’PUPPY DOG’ SPECIFICATIONS / GUIDE LINES

All motors must run an 7 tooth pinion. At some events smaller
pinion may be allowed due to track length.

Armature Specifications
Arms are to be tagged PD
Arms are to be wound with 75 turns of 31 ga wire
Minimum armature diameter is .512"
Minimum armature stack length is .390"
Maximum Comm Timing is 30 degrees

Motor air gap minimum is .525" Max is .540"

Stock Factory Production Ceramic magnets only. No modifications allowed
including honing and grinding. NO PS-FK magnets, NO Poly Neo,
No Hard Neo, No Cobalt magnets allowed.

Cans are to remain unmodified. No cutting or grinding allowed on
motor cans. No bending or squeezing of motor cans.

Magnets are to be retained in place using clear Super Glue only.
Magnet recharging or zapping is allowed.

Ball bearing allowed on pinion/can side of motor(s). May solder
bushing or ball bearing in place.

Endbell may use oilite bushing or ball bearing only.

No modifications allowed to endbell(s)

Hardware on endbell is to remain stock and unmodified. Factory
commutator clearance is allowed on hardware. May also use
P-S replacement copper hardware.

Hardware screws may be changed.

Any brush spring may be used.

36-D size carbon motor brushes must be used. Any brand, type, MFG
permitted. No modifications to carbon brushes allowed. Brush cream allowed.

No shunt wires or spring insulation allowed.

External Can type motor heat sinks and comm coolers are allowed.

There is a $ 10.00 Cash only Motor Protest Fee for Sealed/Unsealed Puppy Dog Motors. Protest must be filed before conclusion of last heat of the last race in the class the motor is being protested in. Racer protesting motor must be entered in the class he is filing the protest. Motor will be disassembled at the conclusion of the race/event and the Race Official(s) Decision will be Final. Sealed motors will be reassembled and sent to the refurber who originally sealed the motor by the Race Official(s) if the owner of the motor wants it resealed.

If it's not mentioned.....it's not legal.

Option 2

Pro-Slot 4002 FK Motor Rules

Motors must be factory sealed and using the unmodified factory seal only.

Seals may have clear "finger nail polish" added to extend life
of seal. NO other modifications to the seals allowed

All motors must run an 8 tooth pinion. At some events smaller
pinion may be allowed due to track length.

Racers may change brushes and springs.

Only 3 coil replacement springs are allowed.

Any 36-D sized motor brushes may be used.

Brushes may not be cut, slotted or modified on the surface touching
the commutator. Brushes may be radiused prior to break in.

No spring insulation or shunt wires are allowed.

Super Glue may be added to the endbell bushing.

Can oilite bushing may be soldered in place.

Armature Shafts may be cut on both sides of the motor.

Motors may NOT be refurbed.

NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS ALLOWED TO MOTOR. If it's not mentioned-it's not legal.



Chassis- Are to be scratchbuilt from the listed materials or kits.
Allowed Materials are Brass in sheet, rod and tube forms. Bronze rod for
chassis main rails/rails. Steel in piano/music wire, pin tube(s). Steel guide
holders are allowed but can not exceed a max width of 1" ( 25.4 mm )
and be no longer than 1 1/2" ( 38.1 mm ) in length. No other materials
allowed in chassis construction.

 

Chassis are to be inline drive type. Motor shaft must be 90
degrees to the rear axle. No offset motors allowed. The motor shaft is to be on
the centerline of the chassis.

 

Floating pin tubes are allowed. Steel parts cut from Flexi type
chassis are not allowed.

 

Chassis must have a three sided and one piece rear motor
bracket with a minimum height of .200" in the areas between the motor
mount and bushing/bearing/tube areas . Bracket width is open. No cut and
soldered rear brackets allowed. The motor must be supported by the bracket and
the bracket extend to touch the rear axle bushings/bearings/tube(s). The
motor must be soldered or screwed to the bracket.  

 

Keyed or Snap type chassis construction is not allowed. Chassis
Main Rails of round steel wire or round brass rod/tubing may be ground/sanded
a maximum of 20% of the wire diameter and must be ground/sanded on the bottom
side of the wire and chassis only. No flat or strip type rails allowed. Chassis
Main Rails must connect the front of the chassis to the rear motor bracket. No
Pan type or one piece type chassis allowed. The bottom surface of the chassis
and motor must be straight and flat in all directions ( front to rear and side
to side ) with no sagging or drooping or bowing parts below the chassis main
rails. This will be checked with a straight edge ruler.

 

All hinged movements must be oriented in one and
the same direction excluding the drop arm. Shaker pans are allowed.
Centerline hinges are not allowed.

 

Maximum chassis width is 3 1/8" ( 79.38 mm )

 

Motor-  See above motor rules at top of page

 

Body- Any Approved WSC Coupe body may be used. Bodies
must be 1969 or earlier models based on the actual full sized cars of that era.
Bodies may not be modified from their original molded factory form. Max width
of bodies and spoilers are 3 1/4". No excessive cutting
allowed. Front wheel wells must be cut out. Rear wheel wells are to be cut
out unless the real car was ran with the rear wheels enclosed. Rear of body may
be cut out. Tape to reinforce bodies is allowed.

 

Bodies must have three numbers and be painted. Bodies may have
clear sides and no higher than 1/4" ( 6.35 mm ) measured from the
bottom of the body when mounted on the car. Windshields/windows must be clear
or tinted as on the full size car. Rear window may be painted or if left
clear must have material under the body. Must not be able to see the
chassis through the body and body must be opaque except for the clear sides and
windshield areas or any other area ( air vents ) that was open on the full
size car. There is to be a minimum of 1/16" ( 1.59mm ) vertical front
area ( grill, bumper ) on the front of the body.

 

REAR BODY SKIRTS:  There is no maximum limit to rear body
skirts behind the rear tires in Can-Am, World Sports Car (Coupe), Retro
Anglewinder, and Formula One/Indy. No material of any kind may be added on to
the body to extend rear body skirts. All rear body skirts must clear by .050
sitting on the tech block.

 

Body interiors must be used. Must be formed and 3-D. No flat
interiors allowed. Must be painted a minimum of two colors. Must have driver,
helmet, arms, shoulders and steering wheel molded in. The cockpit area
must be cut out on the mold lines of the body.

 

Rear Body Height- Maximum of 1 3/8" ( 34.93 mm ) measured at
the highest point of the body at the rear of the body. Measurement does not
include the rear spoiler.

 

Rear Spoiler- Max height is 1/2" ( 12.7 mm ). Spoiler must be
attached to the rear of the body and not on the top of the body. Rear spoiler
can be no wider than the body. No additional air control devices are allowed.
No front diaplanes or side dams allowed. Notches and "punched" holes
are permitted. A maximum of two bends allowed.  High mounted wings
are not permitted.

 

Fronts- Minimum Diameter .750" ( 19.05 mm ). Minimum Width
.225" ( 5.72 mm )  No O-Ring fronts allowed. Must be two pieces a
wheel and a foam rubber tire. Foam rubber tire must be glued to the front
wheels. Front tire foam must be Black and made from natural, wonder or SBR type
rubber. No silicone material(s) allowed. Fronts may be coated with "super
glue" or finger nail polish. Contact patch must touch the entire track
surface. No angle cut or treading allowed. Tire edges may be rounded 1/16"
maximum radius.

 

Rears- Must be made using Natural Rubber tires only. Fish/Tuna (
treated or untreated ) and Wonder rubber is allowed. No Speed, silicone or
synthetic rubber allowed. Maximum rear tire width is .810" ( 20.57 mm )
and the minimum rear tire diameter is .8125" ( 20.64 mm ). Rear tires may
not be angle cut. Rear tire/wheel width may be narrowed.

 

Width- Maximum width of chassis and front and rear track is 3
1/8" ( 79.38 mm ). Axles may not be wider than 3 1/8" and may not
protrude outside the outer wheel edge. Front wheels are not allowed to
"extend" out past the sides of the body.

 

Front Clearance- Minimum is .015" ( 0.38 mm ).
Car/chassis is to be checked on a flat block with the front and rear tires
supporting the car/chassis without the guide and the most forward part of
the chassis will be measured for the minimum .015" clearance. No tape or
other materials are allowed anywhere on the bottom of the chassis.

 

Rear Clearance- Minimum is .050" ( 1.27 mm ). Car/chassis is
to be checked on a flat block with the front and rear tires supporting the
car/chassis without the guide.  The motor bracket and all wires,
pans, etc must clear by this measurement from the aft side of the motor. The
crown gear must also clear by .050".

 

Axles- Minimum diameter of 3/32" ( 2.38 mm ) allowed front
and rear. Axles must be solid steel and no hollow or lightweight material axles
allowed. Flattened axles are allowed. Threaded front axles allowed.

 

Bearings/Bushings- Ball Bearings or oilite
bushings allowed on front and rear axles and in front wheels.

 

Weight- Minimum ready to race car weight is 100 grams.

 

Gears- 48 pitch commercially available pinions and crown gears
only. Must use 7 tooth pinion only and crown gears are limited to 26, 27,
28 and 29. Gears may not be modified with the exception of a sleeve only. No
lightening of the plastic or metal gear hub. The plastic portion of 29T crown
gears may be sanded and/or machined to meet minimum clearance requirements. No
other modification of crown gears is permitted.

 

Guides- May use and commercially available guide flag. May use any
lead wire, guide clips and guide nut.

 

IF IT'S NOT MENTIONED IT'S NOT LEGAL  ASK before bringing it
to the track or to tech.

 Effective October 1, 2015

CHASSIS: Are to be scratchbuilt from the listed materials or kits.
Allowed Materials are Brass in sheet, rod and tube forms. Bronze rod for
chassis main rails/rails. Steel in piano/music wire, pin tube(s). Steel guide
holders are allowed but can not exceed a max width of 1" ( 25.4 mm )
and be no longer than 1 1/2" ( 38.1 mm ) in length. No other materials
allowed in chassis construction. 

Chassis are to be inline drive type. Motor shaft must be 90
degrees to the rear axle. No offset motors allowed. The motor shaft is to be on
the centerline of the chassis. 

Floating pin tubes are allowed. Steel parts cut from Flexi type
chassis are not allowed. 

Chassis must have a three sided and one piece rear motor
bracket with a minimum height of .200" in the areas between the motor
mount and bushing/bearing/tube areas . Bracket width is open. No cut and
soldered rear brackets allowed. The motor must be supported by the bracket and
the bracket extend to touch the rear axle bushings/bearings/tube(s). The
motor must be soldered or screwed to the bracket.

MOTOR:  See above motor rules at top of page

BODY: Any Approved 4.5" WB Stock Car body may be
used. Bodies must be 1969 or earlier models based on the actual full sized cars
of that era. Bodies may not be modified from their original molded factory
form. Minimum WB of the bodies is 4 1/2"  ( 114.30 mm ) Max
width of bodies across the fender arches/flares is 3 1/4". No
excessive cutting allowed. Front and rear wheel wells must be cut
out. Rear of body may not be cut out and must not be cut up and into the
rear bumper. Full front bumper must be retained and may be cut to allow for
guide flag clearance. On the 69 Daytona Charger body the full front spoiler
must remain intact. No "squashed" top bodies allowed.   Tape
to reinforce bodies is allowed.

side dams allowed. Notches and "punched" holes are permitted. A
maximum of two bends allowed.   

FRONTS: Minimum Diameter .750" ( 19.05 mm ). Minimum Width

bushings allowed on front and rear axles and in front wheels. 

WEIGHT: Minimum ready to race car weight is 100 grams.
